Platohedro
Platohedro is a creative and collaborative platform for innovation and experimentation through contemporary art, technology, freedom of expression and alternative pedagogical programs.
Platohedro was founded in 2004 and plays an important role in Medellín's cultural and social scene by organizing diverse workshops, collective actions, youth programs, public interventions, publications and cultural networks.
Platohedro's residency program, open since 2014, offers around ten spaces each year for artists and cultural agents who wish to experiment, research or develop projects related to violence prevention, gender perspective or contemporary issues experienced in local communities.
National and international visual artists, research and sound artists, electronic art, programmers, curators and cultural managers of all career levels can apply for a one-month residency during which they will be housed in a private room, and will have access to shared studios, a documentation center and exhibition spaces. Artists can apply for a residency managed with their own resources or for the support opportunities of each call, which falls around the month of November.
The selected projects will receive guidance and curatorial and technical advice from the Platohedro team, documentation of the creation process, as well as an immersion in the cultural agenda of the city and contacts with other institutions and local agents depending on each project. The link with the community, collaborative creation with local artists and pedagogical actions are encouraged during their stay. The results of the residency may end with a publication. In case it is not possible to carry out the residency in person, it can be developed remotely.
