Cultural Mobility Funding Guide for Latin America and the Caribbean ESP/FR/ENG

On September 28th, Artists In Residence Television visited the BUAP, the University of Applied Arts of Puebla in Mexico, for the official launch of the Cultural Mobility Funding Guide for Latin America and the Caribbean. The publication of the guide is the result of a close collaboration between the international network of cultural mobility On the Move, and the Arquetopia Foundation which has three residency programs between Mexico and Peru. The translation of the guide is supported by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.

Following the publication of similar guides for Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the United States, On The Move has worked with Arquetopia to develop one on the mobility in the regions of Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. « These are both opportunities for artists but also for cultural professionals, and we also aim for a mobility called outgoing, so to go outside the country where you live, and incoming, so to invite artists or cultural professionals to our country » indicates Maïa Sert, Project Coordinator at On the Move.

After a year of work, Arquetopia and On the Move have identified around 100 opportunities of funding sources for international mobility based on partial or full funding of the mobility, and organized into three categories: Public Funding, Private and Mixed Funding, and Residencies. « I think that more than the opportunities themselves, the important thing about this type of document is to reflect on mobility problems in Latin America {…}.  So, even though it works as a tool to facilitate that artists and cultural professionals in general have the possibility of moving, what interests us is that it generates a wider conversation about « who can move, towards where and how? », » wonders Francisco Guevara, Director of the Arquetopia Foundation.

The guide is published in french, spanish, and english and is available for free on the website www.on-the-move.org since October 4th, 2018.
